
Sister Joseph Anne (Mary) Moran, 95, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died on November 2, 2013 at Mont Marie Health Care Center, Holyoke.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Michael and Sarah (McMahon) Moran. Sister Joseph Anne entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, MA in 1936 from St. Stephen Parish, Worcester. Her early education was at St. Stephen School; she graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1936. She earned a B.A. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee and a M.Ed. from Boston College.
Sister Joseph Anne’s teaching assignments were at St. Mary High School, Milford, MA, where she taught modern languages, and the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee, MA, where she was a member of the Modern Language Department. Sister served as Dean of Students (’63-’75), Director of Financial Aid (’75-78) and Registrar (’78-’93) at the College of Our Lady of the Elms.
In addition to her Sisters in Community, she is survived by her sister, Teresa Moran, SSJ of Pittsfield, MA and by her brothers Joseph Moran and James Moran, both of Worcester, MA. She was predeceased by her sister Anna Patrice (Rita) Moran, SSJ and by her brothers John Moran and Francis Moran.
