Sister Gloria Rose Corriveau (Veronica Emile), (2/28/1941), beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died in Bethany Health Care Center, Framingham, Mass. on April 26, 2025. A native of Southbridge, Mass., Sister was the daughter of Victor E. and Veronica E. (Julian) Corriveau.
Sister Gloria entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from Sacred Heart Parish, Southbridge in 1958. She was graduated from St. Mary High School, Southbridge. She earned a B.A. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee, and an elementary school principal certificate from Fitchburg State College.
Sister taught at St. Bernadette School, Northborough, St. Louis, Webster, Sacred Heart, Gardner, Our Lady of Hope, Springfield, and St. Joseph’s, North Adams. She also taught at Our Lady of the Valley, Uxbridge for 16 years before becoming principal at Sacred Heart School, Webster, MA. She served the Congregation as a driver and companion to the retired sisters in the Mont Marie retirement community.
In addition to her Sisters in community, she leaves her nephew, Kenneth Talbot, (Donna), and nieces, Deborah Ballard and Susan Small. Sister was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Veronica Corriveau, her brother, Robert Corriveau and sister, Pauline Talbot.
All services for Sr. Gloria will take place in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA on Monday, May 5, 2025. She will be waked from 9:00 AM with a prayer service at 9:30 AM. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Mont Marie Cemetery.
