Sister Ann Gibeault (Dorothy Alfred), (9/9/1935), beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died in Bethany Health Care Center, Framingham, Mass., on November 11, 2023. Born in Pawtucket, RI she was the daughter of Alfred J. and Sophie (Pytel) Gibeault.
Sister Ann entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from Holy Trinity Parish, Central Falls, RI in 1953. She was graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Pawtucket. She earned an A.B. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee, and an M.Ed. in psychology from (then) Westfield State College.
Sister taught in a number of schools in the Springfield, Worcester and Providence Dioceses: St. Mary’s, Southbridge, St. Mary’s, Northampton, Blessed Sacrament, Greenfield, St. Joseph’s, North Brookfield, Sacred Heart, Pawtucket, Holy Trinity, Central Falls, Our Lady of Consolation, Pawtucket, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Academy, Central Falls. She served as Coordinator of Religious Education at St. Joseph Parish, North Brookfield and Sacred Heart Parish, Pawtucket, RI.
In addition to her Sisters in community, Sister Ann leaves an aunt, Mary Davis of North Attleboro, MA. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Sophie Gibeault.
All services for Sr. Ann will take place in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA on Thursday, November 16, 2023. She will be waked from 9:00 A.M. with a prayer service at 9:30 A.M. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Mont Marie Cemetery.
