Sister Angela Deady (Robert Christopher), (10/2/1946), beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield died at Mary’s Meadow, Holyoke, Mass., on December 30, 2022. A native of Chicopee, Mass., she was the daughter of Robert and Bessie (Lolos) Deady.
Sister Angela entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from St. Patrick Parish, Chicopee, Mass., in 1964. She graduated from Cathedral High School, Springfield. She earned a B.A. degree in English from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee and an M.A. in English from Assumption College, Worcester.
Sister taught at Holy Trinity, Greenfield, St. Joseph High School, North Adams, Holyoke Catholic High School, and St. Joseph School, Leicester. Sister served as pastoral minister at All Saints Parish in Ware from 1988 to 2017. Sister then served as Vice President of the Congregation from June 2017 through June 2022.
Sister Angela was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Bessie. In addition to her Sisters in community, Sister is survived by her brothers, Robert, Christopher (Angela’s twin), Michael, Joseph, Barry Roberts and her sister, Catherine Deady. She also leaves several generations of loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and a grandnephew.
Services for Sr. Angela will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023. The burial will take place at Mont Marie Cemetery, Lower Westfield Road in Holyoke, at 9:30 AM. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 10AM at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke, prior to the Memorial Mass which will take place at 10:30 AM.
