
Sister Richard Francis Doran, (Josephine C.), 88, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield in her 71st year, died on April 20, 2012 in Mont Marie Health Care Center, Holyoke. A native of Worcester she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Hanley) Doran.
Sister received her elementary and secondary education at Sacred Heart Academy, Worcester. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from St. Anne Parish, Worcester. She earned a B.A. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee and pursued graduate studies at Wellesley College, University of Massachusetts, Amherst and the University of Rhode Island. Sister taught at St. Thomas School, West Springfield and at Cathedral High School, Springfield for many years and was very active as a teacher in parish religious education. For several years she was the director of Summer Vacation School at Goose Bay Air Force Base, Labrador, Canada. After her retirement from school, she joined the staff of the Development Office at Mont Marie, Holyoke. She retired to St. Joseph Residence, Mont Marie in 2003.
