Sister Eileen Joseph Christopher (Beverly), 83, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died at Bethany Health Care Center in Framingham on November 1, 2021. A native of Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of Joseph J. and Josephine P. (Razsa) Christopher.
Sister Eileen Joseph graduated from St. Peter High School in Worcester. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield in 1956 from Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Worcester. Sister earned an A.B. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee and an M.S.L. from the University of Rhode Island in Providence.
Sister Eileen taught in the Diocese of Springfield at Holy Trinity School in Greenfield, Annunciation School in Florence, St. Mary’s in Northampton and St. Patrick’s in Chicopee Falls; she taught in the Providence Diocese at Sacred Heart School in Pawtucket, RI and in the Worcester Diocese at Sacred Heart Academy and Worcester Central Catholic. Sister also served in the religious education program in Forester, MA and as a library media specialist at Notre Dame Academy in Worcester.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Christopher. In addition to her Sisters in community, Sr. Eileen Joseph leaves to mourn her passing, the dedicated staff and faithful caregivers at Bethany Health Care Center.
Services for Sr. Eileen Joseph will take place at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke on November 8, 2021. A wake will be held from 9:00 am to 9:45 am with a prayer service at 9:15 am. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Mont Marie Cemetery.
