
Sister Mary Marrin, 79, formerly known as Sr. Veronica Anthony, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died at Bethany Health Care Center in Framingham, Mass. on August 31, 2017. A native of Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of George Anthony and Margaret V. (Linehan) Marrin.
Sister Mary entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from Our Lady Fatima Parish, Worcester in 1956. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Worcester. She earned a B.A. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee, and an M.A. from St. Joseph College, West Hartford.
Sister Mary taught at St. Paul’s, Blackstone, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Holy Family Schools in Springfield and at St. Mary Grammar School, Westfield. Sister was chaplain at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, and Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. She also served as switchboard operator and receptionist at Mont Marie.
Sister Mary was preceded in death by her parents. In addition to her Sisters in community, Sister Mary leaves several close friends to cherish her memory.
All services for Sr. Mary will take place in St. Joseph Chapel at Mont Marie in Holyoke on Monday, September 4, 2017. She will be waked from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a prayer service at 10:00 a.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Mont Marie Cemetery.
