Our Mission

In the nearly century and a half of our presence in some of the dioceses of New England, the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph has focused and challenged us while our ministries have adjusted and changed according to the needs of our dear neighbors and our ability to respond.

Our mission, “to unite neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God without distinction”, stretches back over all these years to Le Puy, France, in 1650. It endures to this day because it is the mission of Jesus.

As our physical presence in the working world diminishes, we continue to respond by educating ourselves and others to the needs around us through our vibrant Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Committee. The strong infrastructure of prayer supports us individually and as a Congregation. The bonds we have developed over time with students, colleagues, associates, agrégées, and parishioners are deep and endure as part of our legacy to continue to “unite neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God without distinction”.
