
Sister Mary Cadigan, (Joseph Mary), 79, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died in Springfield on June 17, 2016. A native of Holyoke, Mass., she was the daughter of John J. and Mary E. (Kirkpatrick) Cadigan.
Sister Mary entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from Sacred Heart Parish, Holyoke, Mass. in 1958. She was graduated from Holyoke High School and attended the Providence Hospital School of Nursing, Holyoke, and became a registered nurse.
Beginning in 1961 Sister spent 29 years as a nurse at the Mont Marie Infirmary in Holyoke. She also served as a registered nurse at the Mont Marie Health Care Center 1991-2006 until her retirement. She was a member of the switchboard staff until 2014, continuing as a volunteer for pastoral services until the day of her death.
In addition to her Sisters in community, she is survived by her brother, John Cadigan of Holyoke and by several nephews and nieces and their families. She was predeceased by her siblings Thomas, James and Margaret Cadigan.
All services for Sr. Mary Cadigan will take place at Mont Marie on Wednesday, June 22. She will be waked from 2:30 – 4:30 with a prayer service at 3:30. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 5:00. Burial will be in Mont Marie Cemetery.
