Sister Nancy Welsh, (Paul Maria), 75, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died in Springfield, MA on May 20, 2016.
Born in Malden, MA she was the daughter of Paul and Marie (Moquin) Welsh. Sr. Nancy entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from St. Leo Parish, Leominster, MA in 1962. She was graduated from Leominster High School and earned a B.S. degree from (then) Fitchburg State College.
She taught briefly at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School, Holyoke, MA, and then served in Gardner, MA for over 40 years. Subsequently she worked in medical records at the Mont Marie Health Care Center, Holyoke and was also pastoral minister there.
In addition to her Sisters in community she is survived by her brother David Welsh of Virginia and her sister Barbara Walsh and husband John of Brookline, MA and by many nieces and nephews and their families. All services will take place in the Chapel at Mont Marie, 36 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA on Wednesday, May 25. The wake will be from 9:30 – 11:30 with a prayer service at 10:15. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 with burial in Mont Marie Cemetery.
