Sister Mary Dominica Gallagher (Catherine)

Sister Mary Dominica Gallagher (Catherine), 102, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, died on June 1, 2014 in Mountain View Center, Rutland, Vt. a few days after her 85th anniversary of becoming a Sister of St. Joseph. Born in North Walpole, N.H., she was the daughter of Thomas and Bridget Gallagher. 

Sister Dominica entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Vermont from St. Peter’s Parish, North Walpole, N.H. She was educated in the North Walpole schools. She became a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield in 2001 when the two Communities merged. 
 
Sister Dominica ministered to her community as cook for many years in St. Michael Convent, Brattleboro; St. Francis Convent, Bennington; St. Charles Convent, Bellows Falls and Mt. St. Joseph Convent, Rutland. Later she served as infirmarian at Mt. St. Joseph Convent, Rutland. In 1991 she retired at St. Joseph Residence where she served as a volunteer visiting the sick in nursing homes. 
 
In addition to her Sisters in Community, she is survived by several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She also is survived by Pamela Merritt and Alice Heath, both of Rutland, for whom she cared in their young lives. Sister Dominica was predeceased by all ten of her siblings.
