Sister Alicia Maria (Elizabeth) Fairfield

Sister Alicia Maria (Elizabeth) Fairfield, 90, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph in her 71st year, died on May 29, 2012 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Frederick F. and Mary (Donahue) Fairfield. Sister Alicia attended elementary and secondary school in Melbourne, Fla., and then entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, Massachusetts from St. Mary Parish, Southbridge.

For over 50 years her ministry was to provide service to her Sisters in community, first as cook and later as a certified nursing assistant. She earned a Certificate in Advanced Food Service Studies and served at the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee, and at the former Motherhouse of the Community in Springfield, and at Mont Marie and Mary Immaculate, both in Holyoke. After successfully completing the Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program, Sister served at Mont Marie Health Care Center. In 1993 she retired at Sr. Joseph Residence, Mont Marie. She became a resident of Mont Marie Health Care Center in 2005.
