Sister Kathleen A. Wallace

Sr. Kathleen WallaceSister Kathleen A. Wallace (Margaret Kenneth), (4/8/1939), beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died at Bethany Health Care Center, Framingham, Mass. on November 20, 2024. Born in Springfield, Mass., Sister was the daughter of Canice Joseph and Margaret F. (Cox) Wallace.

Sister Kathleen entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from St. Matthew Parish, Indian Orchard in 1956. She graduated from Cathedral High School, Springfield. She earned an A.B. from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee and an M.A. in pastoral ministry from St. Joseph College, West Hartford, Conn.

She taught at Cathedral Elementary, Springfield, St. Joseph, Sacred Heart, and St. Mark Schools in Pittsfield. She served as pastoral minister at St. Teresa Parish, Pittsfield before becoming principal at Sacred Heart School, Pittsfield. She also served as principal and later religious liaison at St. Mary’s Parish School, Lee. Sister received the National Catholic Education Association Award for Distinguished Principal in 1991.  In her retirement days, Sr. Kathleen shared her love and compassion as a volunteer with Hospice Care in the Berkshires for 15 years.

In addition to her Sisters in community, Sister Kathleen leaves her brother Norman F.  (Nancy) of North Fort Meyers, Fla., a sister, Margaret M. Wallace of Pittsfield, Mass. and sister-in-law, Judith Wallace of Pittsfield, four nieces, one nephew and eleven grand nieces and nephews and 9 great grand nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, Canice Joseph and Margaret Wallace and her brother James J. of Pittsfield, Mass.   

All services for Sr. Kathleen will take place in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke, Mass. on December 4, 2024. She will be waked from Blessed Sacrament Church from 9:00 AM with a prayer service at  9:30 AM. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM with burial at Mont Marie Cemetery, Holyoke, Mass.
