Sister Patricia Johnson (David Robert), (12/15/1935), beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Mass., on January 28, 2023. A native of Holyoke, Mass., she was the daughter of Howard and Ethel (Waddington) Johnson.
Sister Patricia entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from Blessed Sacrament Parish, Holyoke in 1954. She was graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Holyoke. She earned a B.A. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee and an M.A. from (then) Worcester State College.
She taught in the Worcester Diocese at Sacred Heart Academy and Worcester Central Catholic Middle School, and St. Peter-Marian Central Catholic High School, all in Worcester. She also taught at St. Francis of Assisi School in Hillsgrove, RI. She served as secretary to the president of the Sisters of St. Joseph and as a secretary in the Worcester Chancery Office. After her work in the Mont Marie Communications office, she was secretary and office manager for the Bureau of Exceptional Children and Adults in Holyoke.
Sister was predeceased by her brothers, Howard Johnson and John Johnson (Barbara), and a sister, Marilyn Garvey-Morgan (Joseph). In addition to her Sisters in community, Sister is survived by her brother Donald (Rosemary), of Holyoke, MA and David in Albany, New York as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great nieces and great nephews.
All services for Sr. Patricia will take place in Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke, MA on February 1, 2023. She will be waked from 9AM with a prayer service at 9:30 AM. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mont Marie Cemetery.
