Sister Ann Lynch (Alice Edmond)

Sister Ann Lynch (Alice Edmond), 84, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, died in Baystate Medical Center on October 11, 2022. Born in Springfield, Mass. she was the daughter of Edmond Joseph and Alice Gertrude (McDonnell) Lynch.

Sister Ann entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, West Springfield, Mass. in 1956. She was graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Springfield and earned an A.B. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee. She earned an M.A. from Boston College and an M.A. in journalism from Ball State University, Muncie, IN.

She taught in schools in the Springfield Diocese including Holy Family and Cathedral High School. She was director of public relations for the Sisters of St. Joseph, editor of the Congregation newspaper Mission, served as coordinator of the Office of Peace and Justice and worked on the S.E.E.D. Committee. Sister served as co-coordinator of the Congregation’s Ecology Committee.

In addition to her Sisters in Community, she is survived by her sister, Alice Lynch, a nephew Joseph Lynch and his family as well as a sister-in-law, Sandra. Sister was predeceased by brother Edmond.

Burial services for Sr. Ann will take place Friday morning at 9:00 AM, October 14, at Mont Marie Cemetery, Holyoke, Mass. A Memorial Mass will follow at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke, Mass. at 10:00 AM.
